Why We’re Different From Other Removal Companies

removals-North-Kent

If you live in Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham or any other town or city close by and are looking for a removal company North Kent has an abundance to choose from. So, in an effort to show you why we stick out from them – and therefore why you should use Dee Dee Relocations next time you move – we thought we’d share three points that quite simply make us better than the rest!

Experience

We have absolutely loads of experience when it comes to removals, whether this is moving you down the road or to a completely different country. The company was founded 26 years ago and over that time has helped thousands of happy people to relocate. Aside from the company having experience, we also ensure that our staff are experienced and know how to deal with every situation. We are not a fly by night company that’s only opened its doors in the last few months…

Range of Services

We aren’t just a removals company – we offer a huge range of other services to those looking for a removal company in North Kent. For example, did you know we are expert piano movers? Or did you know that we are extremely experienced in both car and small boat transportation? We even have clients who use us to transport their items when attending large exhibitions, as they know that our experience and skill will ensure that the items get there on time and in one piece.

Cost

We always strive to produce accurate, fair quotes for every single customer. You won’t ever find any hidden charges on your bill, and we will always be completely honest with you from the beginning about prices. You can get an online quote right now if desired, or contact us 0208 311 1499 to get a more personal touch!

What to Look for in a Removal Company Kent

If you are looking for a removal company Kent has loads to offer.

Removal-Company-Kent

In fact, the sheer number of removal companies Kent has can make choosing one a pretty difficult task.

After all, many people haven’t gone through the process of moving house before. So, in order to help you pick, we’ve come up with this brief guide on what to look for in a removal company, so you can concentrate on moving house, not picking the company…

Price

It would be totally wrong of us not to say that price pays a major role in which removal company someone chooses – after all, moving house is an expensive business, so saving some money is understandable. We would like to urge a note of caution though: don’t automatically take the lowest quote, as there is often a reason it’s so low. Look at what they offer in return for your money, and get some feedback from others who have used them.

Equipment & Staff

Is the company using purpose built removals vehicles that are fully licensed ? Are the vehicles equipped with load restraints, protection blankets and sack barrows? With regards to the staff, are they in uniform and do they hold any qualifications? Have the staff sat an induction course and been taught basic manual handling? These are all questions you should not be afraid to ask and will assist you in gauging the professionalism of the company concerned.

Testimonials

The best way to know whether a removal company is good is via word of mouth. If you’ve had friends or family move house, find out about their experience with their removal company and whether they’d recommend them. We know that if you ask any of our customers they’d recommend our services to everyone! That’s because we know we’re the most well-respected removal company Kent has to offer!

Why Do So Many People Move to Kent?

Every single year, thousands of people decide to up sticks and make the move to Kent, dubbed the Garden of England.

Everyone has their own reasons for moving to England’s most south-easterly county, but what are the main reasons that Kent has to offer? Read on to find out…

Excellent Education

Kent is the envy of many other counties when it comes to its education system, offering over 600 schools for parents to choose from. This includes a number of prestigious grammar schools, which allow more gifted children the chance to grow at a faster pace than elsewhere. Higher education is also well catered for, with Canterbury playing host to two universities – the University of Kent and Canterbury Christchurch University.

Great Transport Links

Kent is a really popular choice for those looking to commute to London, as it has very good transport links to the capital. What’s more, house prices are much lower than London, making Kent one of the best financial choices for London workers. It is also the location of the Channel Tunnel, making trips to France a definite possibility – you can get the train from either Ashford or Folkestone.

Vibrant Towns, Beautiful Countryside

The county of Kent has the perfect mix of town and country, meaning that everyone will be able to find an area that suits them. From the historical city of Canterbury (which comes complete with excellent shopping), through to the quaint seaside locations of Whitstable and Hythe (via the stunning natural scenery of the Weald and the North Downs, both designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Kent provides everything you could hope for.

635 New Homes To Be Built In Kent

Kent is an extremely popular place to live, especially with those working in central London, looking for a base to commute to the city each day.

Moving to Tonbridge Kent

New homes in Kent

New homes in Kent

A recent news report has highlighted the fact that 635 new homes are to be built in Kent after being given the green light by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council. The homes are to be built on land that was previously earmarked for use in generating employment in the area.

The proposed housing site includes provisions for a new primary school – as well as new allotments and sport pitches. The building of these new homes is encouraging for both local residents and new residents alike – it shows the local authority’s commitment to sanctioning affordable homes for those in the area, and those looking to move to the Tonbridge area.

Although Kent remains a desirable location to live in the south of England, property prices in Kent rose slower than the UK national average – with certain areas of Kent (including Sevenoaks) boasting much higher average property prices than other areas (including Thanet).

The Kent area boasts strong transport links with central London by road, rail and coach. Although property prices in Kent are typically above the national average, they’re still considerably lower than those in central London, and the surrounding boroughs. And, as mentioned previously in the article, Kent’s property prices are now increasing at a slower rate than those across the UK on average. Kent’s close proximity to London isn’t the only reason why it’s attractive for those looking to move to the south of England – Kent also sits close to the coast, with resorts like Hastings, Brighton and Eastbourne all within driving distance.

Living in Swanscombe Kent

Swanscombe is a small town, part of the Borough of Dartford on the north Kent coast in England. It is part of the civil parish of Swanscombe and Greenhithe .

Bone fragments and tools, representing the earliest humans known to have lived in England, have been found from 1935 onwards at the Barnfield Pit about 2 km outside the village. This site is now the Swanscombe Heritage Park .

The southeast of England has abundant resources of clay and chalk. Swanscombe was important in the early history of cement. The Swanscombe plant  was subsequently acquired by John Bazley White & Co, which became the largest component of Blue Circle Industries when it formed in 1900. It finally shut down in 1990. Between 1840 and 1930 it was the largest cement plant in Britain. One of the large quarries created as a legacy of the cement industry, between Watling Street and the village of Stone, is the site of the Bluewater (shopping centre), one of the largest such centres in Europe.

An adjacent quarry is to be given up for housing – more than 6,000 houses will be built there. The development by Land Securities, known as ‘Eastern Quarry’, will comprise of three primary schools, a secondary school, a health and social care centre and more than 20 acres (8 ha) of new parkland, lakes and woodland

A plan was announced in October 2012 to build a major theme park on 872 acres of brown field land on the Swanscombe peninsula (the triangular piece of land that juts into the River Thames). The project, dubbed Paramount Kent, would create 27,000 jobs and as such would have the capacity to transform the local economy.

Living in Greenhithe Kent

Greenhithe is a small town in north of the Borough of Dartford , Kent, England. It forms part of the civil parish of Swanscombe and Greenhithe.

At Greenhithe’s waterfront on the estuary of the River Thames it was possible to build wharves for transshipping corn, wood and other commodities; its largest cargoes were of chalk and lime. This led in turn to the development of the cement industry at nearby Swanscombe, although Greenhithe itself enjoyed a brief period of popularity during Victorian times as a tourist resort; Greenhithe Pier was built in 1842 but does not survive. Its manor house has been fully restored and the small town is accessible to the M25 motorway, High Speed 1’s Ebbsfleet International and, particularly relevant to its local economy, Bluewater . At the end of the 20th century a new life was breathed into the area and with the agreement to build new properties on the estate: Crest passed the challenge for repairing the house to PJ Livesey Group. After a £6m investment the pristinely ornate house is restored and it sits again in splendour.

Moving to Greenhithe in Kent

The whole area is being redeveloped as part of the Thames Gateway regeneration project which has seen expansion of residential neighbourhoods of the town: Ingress Park and Waterstone Park. It is anticipated that Greenhithe will attract more affluent and upwardly mobile residents because of the proximity to the enormous shopping complex. This is reflected in increased property valuations, and an increasingly “gentrified” feel to the immediate area.

Living in Gillingham Kent

Gillingham is a town in the unitary authority of Medway in South East England. It is part of the county of Kent. The town includes the areas of Brompton, Hempstead, Wigmore, Parkwood, Rainham, Rainham Mark and Twydall.

The main source of employment was at Chatham Dockyard, two-thirds of which lay within the boundaries of Gillingham. When it ceased to be a naval base in 1984, there was significant unemployment. A World Heritage Site application is today planned for the Dockyard and its defences. Since the 1980s, Gillingham has rebuilt its economic base and the Gillingham Business Park was set up 3 miles (4.8 km) from the town centre, in order to attract investments and diversify economic activity. Gillingham has a marina called Gillingham Marina. Gillingham is an important retail centre serving a substantial part of Medway. The town has a large street market in the High Street on Saturdays and Mondays, and is the busiest in the whole of Medway.

The area boasts a sub-regional sports centre (the Black Lion Leisure Centre, now Medway Park)  with three indoor pools for swimming and SCUBA diving, gym, sports hall and squash courts and includes the Jumpers Rebound Centre for trampolining. Funding has been secured to extensively upgrade the Black Lion Leisure Centre as part of the Medway 2012 programme to secure local benefits from the London Olympics. There is an outdoors sporting centre located at the Strand which provides sailing and motor boat courses for both adults and children. The Strand Leisure Park has an open-air swimming pool on the banks of the River Medway as well as other leisure attractions including tennis courts and a narrow-gauge railway.

Gillingham Ice Bowl is the home ice rink for Kent’s premier Ice Hockey Club the Invicta Dynamos. The Ice Bowl was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 1984. The Roman road now known as Watling Street passed through Gillingham; and until the opening of the Medway Towns bypass (the M2 motorway) in the mid-1960s the same route was followed by the traffic on the A2 to Dover. In June 1996 the Medway Tunnel, linking Gillingham with the M2 and Strood.

Living in Canterbury

Canterbury is an historic English cathedral city, which lies at the heart of the City of Canterbury, a district of  Kent in South East England. It lies on the River Stour.

Parts of the city have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site . Many historical structures remain, including a city wall founded in Roman times and rebuilt in the 14th century, the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and a Norman castle, and perhaps the oldest school in England, The King’s School.

Canterbury is a popular tourist destination: consistently one of the most-visited cities in the United Kingdom, the city’s economy is heavily reliant upon tourism. Tourism contributes £258M to the Canterbury economy and has been a “cornerstone of the local economy” for a number of years; Canterbury Cathedral alone generates over one million visitors a year. There is also a substantial student population, brought about by the presence of three universities, the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, the University College for the Creative Arts, Canterbury  is, however, a relatively small city, when compared with other British cities.

The city’s economy benefits mainly from significant economic projects such as the Canterbury Enterprise Hub, Lakesview International Business Park and the Whitefriars retail development. Canterbury has a high per capita GDP, it is higher than the Kent average of $42,500 at $51,900 making it one of the wealthiest towns in the South East.

Canterbury has two railway stations, Canterbury West  and Canterbury East, both operated by Southeastern, A high-speed  train service to London St Pancras via Ashford International started on 13 December 2009. The journey time to London has been reduced to one hour. Canterbury is by-passed by the A2 London to Dover Road. It is about 45 miles (72 km) from the M25 London orbital motorway, and 61 miles (98 km) from central London. The other main road through Canterbury is the A28 from Ashford to Ramsgate and Margate.

Ashford is a town in the borough of Ashford  in Kent, England. In 2005 it was voted the fourth-best place to live in the United Kingdom. It lies on the River Great Stour , the M20 motorway, and the South Eastern Main Line and High Speed 1 railways. Its agricultural market is one of the most important in the county. As a market town, Ashford  has for centuries been a local communications  hub for surrounding villages and has stood at the centre of five railway lines, (Ashford to Ramsgate (via Canterbury West) line,   Swanley to Ashford (via Maidstone East) Line , South Eastern Main Line , Kent Coast Line and the Marshlink Line ). With the opening of the international passenger station  is now an important European communications centre, with new lines running between London and the Channel Tunnel , with trains to London, Lille and Paris and connections to the rest of Europe.

Ashford has continued to develop, with new homes planned for urban areas such as Repton Park , Park Farm, Singleton and Chilmington , and planning permission granted for a new £25m college campus . The town’s main shopping centre, County Square , expanded in 2008 to include 50,000 sq ft of new retail space, and attracted many popular ‘high street’ retailers. Outside of the town centre is the Ashford Designer Outlet , which attracts around 3 million customers a year. Ashford is home to nineteen primary schools  and six secondary schools . West Kingsdown is a village and civil parish in the  Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. The parish is located on the North Downs, north of Sevenoaks town, within the London Commuter Belt. Both the A20 and the M20 motorway cross the parish.

The village, because of its situation near London, has been considerably extended from its original situation on the main road: the newer part is mainly to the north. To the southwest of the main village are the rural housing developments of  Knatts Valley and East Hill. One settlement in the valley is Romney Street; the word street meaning hamlet in these parts of Kent. To the east there is a development of housing within a wooded area, mainly of detached housing,

Beyond that extension lies the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit. There are four churches in the village: the parish church of St Edmund King and Martyr; West Kingsdown Baptist Church;  the Roman Catholic church of St Bernadette; and Kings Church, an Evangelical church established in 1996.
